Where does the time go?

October 5, 2008

As I write this post, I am wishing I had more time-  more time to sew, more time to read, more time to enjoy the beautiful weather, more time to sleep, more time to get my projects done…

In my last post I promised to deliver the pattern for my lonestar quilt.  While I have made great progress in writing it, I have decided it would be better to have a couple people test the pattern before I put it out here for public consumption.  It is much easier to beg forgiveness from my friends vs from the public.  So, I will post the pattern as soon as it has been tested- if you want to start on it sooner, please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will walk you through it.

I have also been piecing a quilt from the book “Nickel Quilts” by Pat Speth & Charlene Thode-  I love this book because it uses 5″ squares (charm packs) & jelly rolls.  The pattern I am working on is called “Morning Star” and I am using Portobello Market fabrics (along with scraps from prior 3 Sisters fabric collections.  I will post some pictures in the next couple of days.

Austin Quilt Show results

September 28, 2008

The Austin Area Quilt Show was this past weekend-  lots of beautiful quilts.  I am always amazed at the talent that lurks within the Austin Area.  Best of Show went to Bill Horn- see picture below.

I am proud to say that my lonestar quilt won a 3rd place ribbon in the professionally quilted category.  Quite an honor given the 96 other excellent quilts entered in this category. Castle Path Quilting should be very proud, as they designed & quilted the quilting in the LoneStar Quilt.  They had a few other award winning quilts in the show as well.

Nothing like a quilt show to inspire you to get busy on your next quilt.  I will be posting the pattern for my LoneStar quilt in the free pattern section at fatquartercreations.com within the next 7 days.  Let me know if you have any questions.

My family and I recently went to Bozeman, MT for our summer vacation.  It was beautiful! I took the opportunity to visit some quilt stores.  If you are in the Bozeman area, I would l highly recommend visiting Main Street Quilting & Quilting in the Country.  Both stores offer great fabric and inspiration.

The Austin Area Quilt Guild Show (Austin, TX) is the last weekend in September.  I have entered a couple of quilts (the lonestar pictured below is one of them).  Stay tuned for pictures and a report from the show.

Check out Fat Quarter Creations (fatquartercreations.com)- I will be adding links to free quilting patterns and other information sources.
